Nobody Knew What to Do: A Story About Bullying
Published in School & Library Binding by Albert Whitman & Co (April, 2001)
Authors: Becky Ray McCain and Todd Leonardo
Average review score:

For All Ages -
This book is rated among the timeless and yet it is VERY TIMELY for this period of our lives. It is not only interesting, but it guides 'anyone' to understanding the difference in "telling" and in "reporting something to prevent harm". The author is at the top of the list for the very best of authors in Childrens' Books!

Wonderful
This book is literally "timeless" for all ages, especially for adults as well as children. It should be placed in school and church libraries, and discussed over and over again for making certain understanding is there. The Publishers should keep this book out front for many, many years.

Oustanding resource!
This book and Eleanor Estes' book The Hundred Dresses are the only two childrens' books about bullying that I recommend. This book presents clear, effective ideas about how bystanders and teachers can work together to make a difference in stopping school bullying.

Outside in
Published in Paperback by Royal Fireworks Press (June, 2003)
Author: Todd Kelgard
Average review score:

You don't want to stop reading this book!
I really enjoyed this book. Most books I usually put down
but this one I couldn't stop reading. I could really relate to
the story and it made me think alot about life and the choices
I have to make at my age. I loved the characters and the honesty
of Tim with himself and his friends. I would love to read about
Tim again as he gets older just like me.

Reflections of our lives through our children
Outside In is a book that sneaks up on you and leaves you with a clearer understanding of the choices that we all face in our lives. By simplifying the issues and relationships into those of a child, the author gave me a non-threatening way to introspect on the assumptions of duty that I place on myself.

Bravo to a well developed story that unlocks one of the plagues of our culture...an unrelenting duty to "be the best" regardless of the personal cost. With such a busy life, short respites like Outside In that provide clarity are too few and far between.

Tennis, teenagers, trials tribulations and finally triumph
Outside In starts fast and never loses its momentum as it takes the reader inside the mind and heart of a teenage sports prodigy who just wants to be able to do things like everyone else (after all, what early teen doesn't?). This well-written, carefully developed story is about the lessons any young person learns while trying to find and develop their own personality. The multi-layered plot touches upon parent-child realtionships, peer-pressure, child prodigy issues, the internal conflict and sacrifice of finding one's true passion and of course, young (and often-times awkward) love.
The authour is at ease in his writing style and allows the reader to touch the physicality of the story via effective metaphorical passages. The pages turn quickly and the reader immediatley identifies with all the well-developed characters. For the teenager reading this, you will undoubtably be able to think of many people you know that could play each character. For those a little older, Outside In is a fantastic trip back to a time that is not yet too distant for tangible memories.

Velvet Goldmine: A Screenplay
Published in Paperback by Hyperion (Adult Trd Pap) (November, 1998)
Authors: Todd Haynes and Michael Stipe
Average review score:

Must-Have for Velvet Goldmine fans!
I read the screenplay in one sitting, it's just as engrossing as the movie! What I really loved was seeing some of the parts that were edited in the movie version and seeing some of the written words. The screenplay also helped to answer some questions and made things more clear; everytime I watch the movie or read the screenplay I see something new - it's amazing. The screenplay also includes quite a few black and white stills as well as a few color stills.

Todd Haynes is a genius!!!!!
The interview with Todd that is included in this book provides tremendous insight into the creative process that took place when he was writing this film. I loved the movie before I read this......now I'm awestruck.

Absolutely Brilliant!!
I devoured this in under two hours! Not only do you get a wonderful read, and stunning photographs...you get a terrific interview with Mr. Haynes. Real insight into the world of glam! If you loved this film half as much as I did, you must have this. It is fantastic!

Princess Penelope
Published in Hardcover by Scholastic (01 March, 2003)
Authors: Todd Mack and Julia Gran
Average review score:

Precious!
What an absolutely delightful book in every way! My 5-year old friend giggled as I read it to her, as did a group of my 50-year old friends. To read it aloud is such fun. The line, "I'm Penelope, and I am a PRINCESS!" alone presents endless theatrical possibilities. I believe it will find a place on the shelf among classics such as "Where the Wild Things Are" and "Harold and the Purple Crayon."

Oh, you also have a princess?
How many times we have used the "pincess" expression with our little girls thinking we were the only ones with a Penelope! It is interesting that this books views the role through the eyes and ears of a "princess" which Mack has successfully described. Julia Gran's illustrations of a modern princess make the book extremely appealing for bedtime reading by the king and queen. I look forward to more works by Todd Mack and hopefullly teamed up with Julia Gran.
After I read the book I suddenly knew of many friends I just had to share the story with and this is a mark of a winner.

Great Childrens Book!
A fabulous book, wonderful and clever. A must have for every family with young children

Music Money & Success
Published in Paperback by Schirmer Books (15 October, 2000)
Authors: Jeffrey Brabec, Todd Brabec, Jeffrey Brabes, and Todd Brabes
Average review score:

Informative, Up To Date, and Wriiten So All Can Understand
Music, Money, & Success is a must read for anyone interested in music business. As a Vice President/General Manager in the fast moving industry of music publishing, I need to keep abreast of all the changes and any new developments that take place. The revised edition of this book has allowed me to do just that. I strongly recommend this book to anyone trying to keep up with the business and, most of all, anyone who is interested in getting into the business. It is written in a way that all people can easily understand the "ins and outs" of the industry and would enable anyone to grasp the knowledge to enable them to start on the road to a career in the music. It has great information on how the "web" has affected the music business and also contains all the new royalty rates for CDs, Motion Pictures, Television, and other Media.

A must-have for any songwriter or music biz student
As a student of USC's Music Industry program, I not only had this book as a course text, but also had the extreme privilege of having the authors as instructors. I have used the book as an invaluable reference as well as a recommendation or loan to fellow songwriters who needed more information on how they may find a successful strategy toward a career in the industry.

Completely lacking any vague ambiguities regarding the often "mysterious" inner workings of the music industry, the Brabec brothers have clearly defined realistic expectations for those entering the music world from any angle. Straightforward and to-the-point explanations of just about every aspect of the business, especially on the publishing side of things, render this book an essential part of any student or songwriter's library.

Also great for the the vaguely curious, this text is a steal at any price!

GREAT GUIDE FOR TRACING MUSIC INCOME STREAMS AND SOURCES
"How did you arrive at those percentages?" I asked a colleague, after he had presented a very complex licensing proposal for a revue-style stage show. His answer embarrassed me, because I was very familiar with both of the books he cited, one of which was this title, by Jeffrey and Todd Brabec. The Brabec twins' track record goes back thirty years or so. About 1970, when I was first setting up my music companies, both brothers worked for ASCAP, and helped me with some business details. Later on, as the dust-jacket bio explains, Jeff went on into private practice, and is now associated with the Chrysalis Group. Todd has stayed with ASCAP, and is currently Director of Membership, a position that gives him high visibility in the L.A. music community. In other words, these guys know their territory: when they talk about "the inner workings of a music publisher," they lead you into a world seldom seen by the uninitiated outsider. When they talk about "sources of income," their list is exhaustive, not ending until they've included all possible licensing revenues, even "greeting cards" and "dolls and toys." When they tackle co-publishing agreements with this same attention to detail, they are recommending strategies many enterprising and entrepreneurial songwriters will want to try, sooner or later. And we're just beginning: yet to come are the fields of records, television, movies, live performance income, and, finally

musical theater, where my colleague had discovered more complex principles and formulas for computing royalties than I had seen before. Thanks, Jeff and Todd, for taking time to create this book. Okay, sure, you'll make some money with it-costs thirty bucks, for heaven's sake. But still, getting these concepts out of your heads and onto our desks is a major service. While the value of this material is obvious to anyone involved with licensing or contracts, it can be equally helpful as a university text. Consider it for honors work in music business, or for independent readings projects. Now that the book has been around a few years, it has found its way into the libraries of many star-level artists and songwriters, who regularly sing its praises to anyone who will listen. Space Cat

Authors: Ruthven Todd and Paul Galdone
Average review score:

Space Cat is timeless.
The "Space Cat" books are truly timeless adventures of a curious cat who has been stealing hearts for 2 generations. And Ruthven Todd's creativity is sparkling.

"Space Cat " stories are superb!!!
The "Space Cat" series is my most favorite reading from my Elementary school years!!! I, too, renewed as often as permitted, read them to my cousins, and whoever else would listen. As an adult, I've read them to my children, and have been searching for a way to have them as part of our family library. This is great!!!

In the hope that the series is reissued.
Space Cat, Space Cat Visits Venus, Space Cat Meets Mars, and Space Cat and the Kittens, are all favorites from my childhood, and my adulthood. I rechecked them to read to my children and would like to have the rest to keep my copy of Space Cat company in my private library and to share with my grandchildren.

What Really Matters Now
Published in Hardcover by Peter Pauper Press (01 January, 2003)
Authors: Susan Montgomery and Todd Montgomery
Average review score:

Life goes on
I received this small book from a friend. I was touched to think how profound it is in its simplicity. With meaningful photographs and brief, but oh so true words, the Montgomerys have captured what life is all about. Though tragedies strike in most everyone's life, the "good" life... and hope for the future are combined in this small gem of a book to inspire us, and to remind us all how precious each life is.

Common Sense in an Uncommon Book
After the jingoistic flood of words regarding 911, this little book was a welcome respite. A gift from a close friend, I turned the first few pages with no little trepidation. I was pleasantly surprised. Superlative photography accentuated with a few well chosen words, the book said precisely what the title had promised. Nice to read and picture the values most of us are too busy living to appreciate. Heartily recommended.

Little book holds simple and profound message for all
This little book, with its beautifully-crafted descriptives for each treasure of a picture, will be a constant reminder to me of what life is all about - the value of each human life, the incredible beauty of nature, and gratitude to God for giving us precious gifts every single day.

Bottled Wisdom: Over 1,000 Spirited Quotations & Anecdotes
Published in Paperback by Wildstone Media (March, 1998)
Authors: Mark Pollman and Todd Reigle
Average review score:

A Spirited Read
A rich and varied compendium of interesting, entertaining, and thoughtful quotes on drinking, Bottled Wisdom is the perfect tonic for the ill-view that a minority in our society take toward the culture of alcohol. Best shared with a friend over a tasty beverage, this book offers humorous and thoughtful quotes. In fact, some of the best quotes are surprising in content and authorship. Just as a visit to a quality bar should be, this anthology will make you smile, laugh, and reflect on life. You will make new friends and be happy to see some old cronies in these pages. Pollman has done his homework and offers a varied and rich anthology. Reigle's illustrations are good and complement the text without overpowering the words. For the imbiber that has everything, this book is the perfect holiday gift.

A brilliant collection of witty anecdotes
Mark Pollman's book, "Bottled Wisdom", is my defense against the British opinion that nothing American can possibly be as good as the "English way". Pub owners, employees and patrons here in London have been fascinated by Mark's book (ps, Mark, you may have some more new customers!) -- a thoroughly enjoyable read. One word of warning: don't read while drinking, unless your fellow imbibers don't mind being sprayed when you laugh uncontrollably!

Every bar should have a copy
Wit, wisdom, and little known facts of the world of spirits fill these pages. I have a worn out copy on my bar in my house. Guests always pick it up to glance throught it and end up putting it down hours later... A definte must for every person who enjoys spirits. Every bar should have one as well.

The Okay Book
Published in Unknown Binding by Ipicturebooks (July, 2001)
Author: Todd Parr
Average review score:

great but not durable
My daughter loved this book to death - it's death literally. I'm buying a 2nd copy, but why arn't more of Todd Parr's books in board book format? That would be OKAY by me!

First Graders Really Think This Book Is Better Than Okay
This is a wonderful little book! My first graders love to read this book over and over. They love the bright pictures and simple drawings. The children begged to write their own okay books which we did! This is another "Good Night Moon" but for the beginning reader set. I've now gone through my fifth classroom copy!

It's okay to buy this book
Yeah, that was corny, but it was too obvious. Anyway, I came across this book in one of those educational toy stores. What grabbed me was the vibrant colors and the simple, yet important values it communicates. There are two basic messages. The first is not to be biased or prejudiced against others because of superficial things that don't reflect who they are as people (like how big their house is or how they dress). The second message is that you should have the courage to be who you want to be and to express that. My son has been captivated by this book since he was only a few months old and I am looking forward to the day when he will be able to take away the important messages from it. It's comforting to have this book as a tool so that I can help my son grow up to be confident, respectful and happy. As do most parents, we have a few dozen books now. None is a substitute for "Okay." I've evaluated Todd Parr's other books online, but was less impressed and haven't bought any yet. But this one is a gem.
